Ingredient Notes
Here's a few tips on some of the ingredients of this recipe. For full measurements, see the recipe card below:
- Bananas - Perfectly ripe. Not too green, not too brown. A great source of potassium!
- Yogurt - I love the thickness & higher protein content of Greek yogurt, but regular could also be used. Use plain to lessen the sugar, or pick your favorite flavor.
- Fresh berries - Strawberries, blueberries and raspberries are my go-to.
- Granola - Your favorite store-bought or homemade! Granola comes in a variety of flavors so have fun with it!
- Honey - For a hint of sweetness and the "sauce" of the breakfast banana splits. Feel free to use real maple syrup instead.

How to Make Breakfast Banana Splits
These breakfast banana splits come together in a cinch and I guarantee you can't mess them up!
Start with slicing each banana in half lengthwise and placing it a plate. Scoop ¾ cup yogurt on top, just as you would ice cream on a regular banana split.
Top with fresh berries, sprinkle with granola and a drizzle with honey or maple syrup. That's it!

Recipe Variations
These breakfast banana splits are completely customizable. Switch up everything from the yogurt flavor, the fresh fruit or granola flavor to make a variety of different flavor combinations. This is also a great recipe that can get kids involved in the kitchen.
Yogurt flavor variations: Use blueberry, raspberry, vanilla, honey, or even a strawberry banana flavored yogurt. Stir in peanut butter, almond butter or protein powder into the yogurt for a more filling option. Use cottage cheese for more texture.
Fresh fruit variations: Use blackberries, diced mango, diced kiwi, diced pineapple or pomegranate seeds.
Granola variations: Use a fruity, nutty or spiced granola flavor for a variety of flavor options!
Topping variations: Add chia seeds, flax seeds, chopped nuts, coconut flakes or dried fruit like raisins, cherries or cranberries. For a special treat, add some sprinkles or mini chocolate chips!
